HONEST Tea’s Co-Founder Recognized for Contributions in Creating Healthful & Sustainable Food

Posted on Updated on

Honest Tea’s mission is “to create and promote great-tasting, truly healthy, organic beverages” so we are delighted that our co-founder & TeaEO Seth Goldman was honored for his contributions by the United States Healthful Food Council (USHFC).

USHFC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting diet-related disease by realigning the food industry’s incentives with consumers’ health interests.  The inaugural REAL Food Innovator Awards were held on March 13, 2014 in Washington D.C., and Seth was the recipient of one of eight awards given out that evening for helping change the food landscape by providing options that are healthier for both the body and the planet.

Seth was in good company as other recipients included the CEOs of Chipotle, Revolution Foods and Applegate Farms; the former Mayor of New York City; and several others committed to the health and wellbeing of communities and the environment.  The list of REAL Food Innovator Awards is below:

Beverage: Seth Goldman, Co‐Founder and President of Honest Tea

Childhood Nutrition: Kirsten Tobey and Kristin Richmond, Founders of Revolution Foods

Food Access: Robert Egger, Founder of DC Central Kitchen and LA Kitchen

Food Marketing: Steve Ells and Monty Moran, Co‐CEOs of Chipotle

Food Production: Stephen McDonnell, CEO of Applegate Farms

Government Official: Michael Bloomberg, Former Mayor of New York City

Nonprofit Advocacy: Ken Cook, President of the Environmental Working Group

Nutrition Awareness and Disease Prevention: Dr. Marion Nestle, Professor of Nutrition, Food Studies and Public Health at New York University

16 years ago our co-founders were inspired to create an organic tea with fewer calories and less sugar than other offerings on the market. They were thirsty for change and made it happen. So what’s the one thing that inspires you to make an honest difference?

We’d love to hear your plan—tell us in the comment section below.
